Burning House

If my house was burning down and I had to grab 5 DVD’s, the first one I’d grab would be “Star Wars Episode 2”. I loved that film because it explained the incredible love story behind the Queen and the young Jedi Knight, Anakin. Another movie would be “Young Frankenstein”, Mel Brooks’ humor is hilarious. The third movie I’d bring with me is “The Fountain”. This story also with a love theme, transcends the traditional sci fi film. This film is complicated taking the audience through travels back in history, then in the present and the future. “The Time Machine” and “Romeo and Juliet” because of their timeless qualities and classic elements

Best Sci Fi character and Best Sci Fi villain.

The best Sci Fi character ever created has to be Anakin Skywalker from the Star Wars movies. George Lucas created a character that defined the ultimate antagonist. As a young boy, Anakin was exceptional in various areas. He was an excellent pilot and inventor. The medicolrian levels in him made him an instant hit with Quigan Gin as he immediately supported Jedi training of the young boy.

The best Sci Fi villain was to be Darth Varth. The complexities and transformations that he goes through are amazing.

The Dark Knight's Riddler

Yes, I am one of the few who did not see the movie “The Dark Night”. I know I should leave class at this moment and run to Blockbuster and rent the movie but I won’t. I will definitely make a point see the movie now that it has been recommended watching for the horror aspect of the Joker’s character. Since I did not see the movie all I can tell you is a possibility of why he disfigured his face. Pain inflicted upon him as a child from his father made him wear the scars and embedded suffer until he finally believed he was all the evil things his father. As pain became the familiar so he adjust to inflict pain upon his victim for a power trip. Borderline insanity.

Edge of Your Seat

I have to say 2012 directed by is one of those films that had me on the edge of my seat during many of the scenes. Everyone knows that the end of the world is coming December 21, 2012, and I read about it another book, seen the Mayan story at the Dallas planetarium and so I was expecting complete annihilation. However I have to say that I did grow fond of many of the character in the film. It is a film that does have you care about many of the characters.

Song from a Film

There are so many songs in movies that are memorable that it’s hard to choose just one. I love “Cabaret” and the song by the same title but that is a musical and doesn’t qualify for this blog. However, that song describes is the sanity among the A song I recall as being memorable was written by Christopher Cross from a film called “Arthur”. He is a selfish, rich narcissist with beautiful women around him constantly. He was the toast of the town, knew all the latest jokes, but the guy had no substance to him; a grown-up child so to speak. Since he inherited the money from his father so he never has had to take or assume responsibility so he doesn’t. This is until Arthur, played by Dudley Moore meets a very mature and responsible woman played by Julie Andrews. She was the first woman to influence him to make a change. When you get caught between the moon and New York City, the best that you can do, is fall in love. The song fit so well because he had it all, but was very shallow and under-developed.

Web of Risks

I know of a boy that said something about a teacher on his Face Book account and the next day he was put on academic probation and had to apologize to the teacher. I guess if he had used the privacy options, then it’s possible he could have limited the viewing access to his page. Knowing that whatever you say or do on the internet instantly becomes public knowledge, then proceed with caution. We still have freedom, but in this society, rules have to be followed or you have to pay the price of the consequences.

If I am hiring employees for my production company, and I had access to a potential employee, I certainly would check his Face Book or My Space page. Obviously, the person would put their personal interest, accomplishments and free time activities on their page so that would give me insight as to the type of person that would work for me.

Actors

If I’m directing a big budget feature film and my lead actor is being a nightmare to work with, and I can’t fire him/her, here’s some things I’d try to do.

Have a talk with him/her and explain acting like a primadonna isn’t working for either of you let alone the rest of the cast and crew. Try to strike a deal that appeals to his/her ego or pocketbook. Give him enough rope and he might hang himself. Ask the actor’s agent what going on. Try to find a workable solution so the movie isn’t destroyed. Also discuss with the rest of the cast and crew to work around him/her.

C W Blog 1 – Sequels and Adaptations

The video game I’d like to see adapted to a movie would be World of Warcraft and the book Nancy Reagan’s autobiography, My Turn.

2a. Beneath the Planet of the Apes – Comes to America – because the apes were treated like celebrities. Or Star Trek II or Disney’s Herbie Rides again.

2b. What adaptation should not have been made into a film. Catwoman should never have been into a film waste of film.
